Benita
won her first Art contest in
1967 painting an Easter Bunny with his
basket of goodies. She sold her first major
artwork of a barbarian dragging his woman in
1974. The sculpture was 5” tall and created with
sculpted wire wrapped in paper mache’.
She began college to teach Art in 1978, between
1979 and 1989 her family grew with 5 children. She
began creating educational games and opened a
craft store in 1993, then her husband was killed
in 1995. To support her family, she went out to
work but was injured after 1 year and could no
longer do physical labor as a result. Not
being a quitter, she went back to
college to continue on with her
original dream to teach and
work in the field of design.
